Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum

Since the opening in 1985 of the Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum in Amsterdam, almost a million interested people have visited this permanent exhibition. Each year, some 75,000 people from all parts of the world come to this exceptional cultural and knowledge centre at 148 Oudezijds Achterburgwal, in the heart of the Red-Light District. The museum is completely dedicated to the cannabis plant and its many uses. The Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum is unique in the world, and is much like a voyage of discovery that fits perfectly into a tourist visit to Amsterdam.

Coffeeshops prove prohibition useless

Studies show that the average use of cannabis in Holland is lower compared to the rest of Europe, even though marijuana (in small amounts) is freely available in the Netherlands.

This poses a dilemma for advocates of world-wide prohibition of this marijuana, who say that free access to cannabis automatically leads to an increases of use.  Marihuana is freely available in the Netherlands.

Cannabis running low in Morocco

Rabat - Morocco appears to be losing its position as the world's top cannabis grower to Afghanistan after a drive to eradicate the crop in the African country's impoverished north, the head of the UN anti-drugs agency said.

Morocco's multi-billion dollar cannabis harvest almost halved from 2003 to 2006 after officials ordered the destruction of crops, farmers were encouraged to seek other sources of income and drought depleted yields.
