Coffeeshops prove prohibition useless

Studies show that the average use of cannabis in Holland is lower compared to the rest of Europe, even though marijuana (in small amounts) is freely available in the Netherlands.

This poses a dilemma for advocates of world-wide prohibition of this marijuana, who say that free access to cannabis automatically leads to an increases of use.  Marihuana is freely available in the Netherlands.
Now as it is starting to look that this is not the case, it seems to cause some uncertainty with those who had long made up they’re mind about marijuana.

This…  was well illustrated by Antonio Maria Costa, Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), when he was confronted with the matter.
